The Maestro Sacconi
in the testimony of the cellist
Pablo Casals

  Molitg-les-Bains (Pyr. Or.), France, June 7, 1958

Text of the letter sent by the great cellist Pablo Casals to Simone Fernando Sacconi on June 7, 1958 from Molitg-les-Bains (Pyr. Or.), France:

Dear Mr. Sacconi,
I would like to tell you how grateful and happy I was to see you at the Airport in New York. It was so nice of you to come!

Now, I must congratulate you in your work. I am so happy with the cello. The sonority although a bit different than it was before, comes out beautifully. It has its volume again, its beautiful quality, and it is very easy to play. At the same time it is very clean and beautiful to look at. I am so relieved because without my own cello I felt lost. There are so many beautiful instruments, but I can only feel at ease with my own, and it is understandable since I have played on that cello for over 50 years! I knew you would do a good job!

Thank you again, and with my most cordial regards.

Sincerely yours,
Pablo Casals

P. D. Please forgive me for not having said good-bye at the Airport. There was such a confussion and I thought I would see you again, I am so sorry.
