The Maestro Sacconi
in the testimony of the violinist
Zino Francescatti

La Ciotat, France, June 20, 1985

I met Simone Fernando Sacconi in New York, where he directed Emil Herrmann's violinmaking shop. He was a refined, cultured gentleman. We had long conversations in his shop, and it was a pleasure to see him describe the beauty of this or that detail of one of those superb instruments that passed through his hands.

He had the greatest respect for those violins, and real love for Stradivarius's violins.

He was considered the best doctor for these violins, and also the greatest expert of his profession. He could identify at a distance any Italian violin.

He always took care of my violins, especially of my «Hart» Stradivarius and my Santo Serafino.

His friendship was always very precious to me.
